Cedar Grove
A Telecommunications Site

Kings Canyon National Park’s Cedar Grove complex is in a remote and rugged part of the California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains. For both internal and external communications, the Park relies on radios and microwave towers owned by AT&T. Because power lines must traverse a long distance through rugged and inaccessible terrain, sustained electrical utility outages can occur unexpectedly. To avoid disruptions to the communication systems, AT&T installed a hybrid-power system as a source of continuous, reliable electrical power.
